Cryptic Studios has released a new preview trailer for Season Two: Ancient Enemies, the new Star Trek Online content update set to go live this month.
Season Two: Ancient Enemies (aka Season 2.0 Update) will introduce new races, including the ancient nemesis of the Klingon faction, the fekâlhri. The minute-and-a-half video gives us a glimpse of the violence resulting from these encounters.
Starships explode. Ground troops clash. Typical Trekkie fare should First Contact missions via the new diplomacy system come up short.
The video’s music also inspires conspiracy more than cooperation, with its foreboding beat reminiscent of the summer movie “Inception.” Betrayals should lead to action-packed encounters both in the ground and in space, and will push captains to the higher level 51 cap.
There are also new ranks, ships and episodes rolling out–all of which could have been easily mentioned with a bit of video commentary. But I guess alien battle screams provide a more visceral impact than a simple features rundown.
