SOE has confirmed that the delayed Halas Reborn update will push through next month, bringing new content and graphics improvements to the EverQuest II live servers.
In a blog post over the weekend, the developer outlined the new features rolling out with the Halas Reborn update. These include:
- New Halas starting city
- Travel system revamp
- Icy Keep Raid Zone
- The Hole Raid Zone
- Storyteller System
- Shaders 3.0
SOE suggested that previews on Halas Reborn will be released in waves over the coming weeks leading up to the launch. The first salvo is a new footage video showing off the New Halas city and its inhabitants:
Seeing the video, despite its short 30-second length, brings a sigh of relief for those of us half-expecting SOE to push back the update for a few more months of tweaking.
It’s also great to see them ship out the Shaders 3.0 update, since it will improve the look of the new Halas city and raid dungeons. Basically, zone and character art developers received new tools to take advantage of the Shaders 3.0 engine and the May update will show the fruits of their labor in full effect.
Stay tuned, because if our guess is right, the next preview will shed light on how exactly the travel system revamp and storyteller system will be implemented in game.
