Account phishing seems to be on the rise again in Norrath. SOE just posted a special security alert to all EverQuest II players warning them against fake websites attempting to steal their access information.
There is a serious phishing scam being perpetrated right now. You may receive an email telling you that your password has been changed or asking you to log into the linked site for some reason.
Please double check the URL of the site that you are being asked to access. The legitimate SOE site will have this URL: http://auth.station.sony.com/. Please do not enter your information on any other site, as it is not secure.
SOE did not mention the specific sites that should be avoided because it could lead to more account compromises. But it’s safe to say this latest phishing scam has duped a number of EQII fans, forcing the company to post an urgent announcement.
If you feel like your account has been compromised, the game’s support service can be reached through their live chat and email support or phone support number (1-858-537-0898). Phone support is available from Monday-Friday, 10am-7pm PST, except holidays, and is the preferred option if you cannot access live chat and email support.
