Aion postpones character transfers in lieu of balancing solution

Aion has temporarily stopped the free character transfer service as it runs against the clock to fix a worsening balance situation across its newly merged worlds.

Two weeks ago, Aion went ahead with its Server Merge that combined up to four servers into a single world, but some of the resulting communities now face faction imbalances in terms of player population.

“To work towards a more enjoyable play experience we’ve decided to suspend character transfers in order to re-evaluate our strategy for server balance. Once we’ve finalized our new strategy, we will again re-enable free server transfers, however with certain limitations to prevent an excessive amount of transfers that specifically contributed to server imbalance,” added the NCSoft bulletin via their official website.

The Aion developer stressed that “race balance is something that we take extremely seriously” and that all suggestions from players are being considered to “achieve consistency in race balance across all servers.”

It hasn’t been announced when the character transfer service will be enabled again, but it might be quite awhile because some realms are deeply lopsided as it is, swimming in Elyos ranks with no Asmodian opposition to battle against.

Our guess is that when the transfer options do go online again, it will be limited in scope, as suggested in the announcement, to help out low-pop factions get more members from outside servers. So if you’re stuck playing target to hordes of Elyos or Asmodians, just sit tight because reinforcement Daevas will surely be sent your way if not voluntarily, then by some guided sleight of hand.

It's very calm over here, why not leave a comment?
