In a bid to attract new gamers to Age of Conan and ensure more gamers will stick around for its future expansion plans beyond Rise of the Godslayer, Funcom has tacked on exclusive freebies to its long-term premium subscriptions.
Until Sept. 30, all new 12-month subscriptions will offer 60 days of free game time, 15 additional character levels, a pet owl, the Warlord’s Cache and the Wings of Power.
The Warlord’s Cache is an account-wide collection of consumable potions, scrolls and foods. These range from XP gain elixirs and Scrolls of Teleport to hp and mana buff munchies. The Wings of Power can be worn at level 40 for a constant 10% XP boost. Plus the wings can be sent to all characters in one account for quick alt leveling.
Lesser duration subscriptions offer relatively smaller perks. The 6-month premium sub, for instance, only comes with 30 days of free game time, 10 additional character levels, a pet owl and the Warlord’s Cache. Meanwhile, the 3-month premium sub awards 15 days of free game time, 5 additional character levels and a pet owl.
We think the freebies are a solid lure for gamers looking to settle down in Age of Conan, but it’s still up in the air whether those lining up for expensive Collector’s Editions for Final Fantasy XIV and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm will be persuaded to cancel their pre-orders for a piece of Hyborian sword-and-sorcery.
