8th FFXI Vana’versary Doles Out Dinner Suits, Super Kupowers

To celebrate its eighth year as an MMO game, Final Fantasy XI is throwing a two-week bash filled with formal dining wear and moogle magic.

The 8th Vana’versary, which runs from May 11 to 25, commemorates the past year of conquest with events like the Adventurer Appreciation Campaign. Talk to the event moogles stationed around the three cities to get instructions and receive your commemorative presents. Also, make sure to dispose your Anniversary Ring from previous years since the moogles won’t hand you the 2010 Anniversary Ring–and its xp bonus charges–if you still have the old ones. Newcomers can check out the 2009 Adventurer Appreciation Campaign guide since most of the info seems applicable for this year as well.

Square Enix was also kind enough to send out handsome dress suits for you to wear during Vana’versary. Claim these via the moogles stationed in Southern San d’Oria (I-8), Bastok Markets (F-8), and Windurst Waters (north side) (F-9).

If exploration is more up your alley, then help out the explorer moogles to find the legendary treasure of King Kupofried. There are eleven mog tablets to search throughout the land and those who find one can claim bonus rewards, including the xp-accelerating Kupofried’s Ring.

Once all tablets are found, Super Kupowers will be unleashed to adventurers in select areas. These include additional Signet effects such Regeneration and Gilfinder, and more frequent appearances of Treasure Caskets. Last year, only three effects appeared at random that lasted for a week. Now all eleven are activated once the mog tablets are all found.

If you have time for a quick laugh, browse through the amusing Vana’versary story penned by Miyabi Hasegawa, which includes candid congratulatory letters from prestigious NPCs.
