Itching to add some feline touch to your bridge? Then be glad the Caitians are here. This felinoid race–that’s cat-like in Trekker speak–are the latest playable bridge officers to warp in Star Trek Online.
The Caitians were introduced several days ago as part of the “mega update” at the Cryptic Store along with new ships and additional costumes last seen in previous Star Trek episodes.
According to the store description, the Caitian race has been a loyal member of the United Federation of Planets since the 23rd century. And as captains, they posses a ferocious trait called Feline Instincts which lends 20% bonus to Stealth Sight, 10% boost to Exploit damage, 75% increase to jump height, 10% chance to dodge half of the damage from ranged attacks. They can also select two more traits, including the new Pounce trait that enables a 25-foot lunge melee attack power.
Caitians can be unlocked for 200 Cryptic Points and a single purchase unlocks the race for every character slot in a single account. Females speak with a “soft, cat-like purring quality” which could be grating to dog lovers or those who like to travel in deep space silence.
Should you get a Caitian on board–or roll as one yourself–be sure you don’t get grossed out by bare feet because these felinoids go about their business footwear optional.
