Arena Fans Begin Sign-up for 2010 Tournament

With its sparkly ponies and wacky holiday events, World of Warcraft might seem like child’s play. But Blizzard is reminding the world that it has a hardcore gaming side with the launch of its 2010 Arena tournament.

The Arena tournament is a grueling competition where 3-man teams face off to win more than $200,000 in prizes. Arena junkies eager to smash face and collect cold, hard cash have begun signing up at the official tournament website. Registration costs $20.00 / 15€ / £12.00 per person and this unlocks a special tournament realm created solely for Arena battles (No raiding or other PvE content).

A registered player can create three level 80 characters from a predetermined item list of armor, enchants, gems and pets from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Blizzard has ensured an even playing field by giving each player enough gold to build their ultimate fighting toon from scratch.

With everyone having access to top-end gear, winning will depend more on class skill and team coordination. Your effort will be awarded accordingly with cool 2010 Arena tournament prizes ranging from a Murkimus the Gladiator companion, the Vanquisher title, and up to $75,000 cash for the worldwide champion team.

Arena veterans are already revving up for this yearly event through practice matches in live servers. So if you’re a noob who needs a crash course in competitive arena play, better read up on the latest strategies at Arenajunkies.com and study the top teams listed in Sk-gaming.com. At the very least, you’ll form a respectable game plan that doesn’t scream “Free Win Here!”.
