Phase 1 practice is done–now let the real 3-man battles begin!
The 2010 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament has entered Phase 2, meaning every win or loss is now for keeps and will count towards your ladder progress. Top 3-man teams will be flown in to the United States to participate in live events with the global finals being held in BlizzCon 2010 in October.
Of course, the loot is unprecedented. More than $200,000 in prizes are up for grabs with the worldwide champion team bringing home $75,000 in cash. There are also cool in-game prizes to be had such as the Murkimus the Gladiator companion and the Vanquisher title unobtainable anywhere else.
Early bird teams who have been practicing their strategies for the past few weeks may have an advantage, but it’s not yet too late to join the tournament fray. Registration is open until June 7 so head to the Arena Tournament information page and be ready to shell out $20.00 / 15€ / £12.00 per person to form your very own team.
During Phase 2, the specially created Arena Tournament realm will see intensified fighting as every win counts. Make sure you put up a good fight by setting up a vent and spending time to know each other’s play style. You should also optimize your build using the item list provided by Blizzard. All tournament participants have access to top-level gear, enchantments, gems and glyphs from the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.
In between bouts, head on over to the Arena Tournament Forum to scope out the competition. Or just rant and unwind there while checking your team’s progress (or lack thereof) at the World of Warcraft Armory under Coliseum battlegroup.
